I Corinthians 15: “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, was raised – the third day to new life and appeared”

Christ is the Anointed One, Messiah, Lord, 2nd person of Trinity

He tasted all of life except sin. He died for our sin. Buried in a public tomb.

After his resurrection, He appeared to many. 

There were eye witnesses of the resurrected Christ.

Women first witnessed empty tomb and Jesus.

Women’s words (like the shepherds) weren’t highly regarded.

The writers, esp. Luke, don’t shy away from truth of women being first witnesses. 

The men were scared: principle of embarrassment. 

Paul’s’ credo in I Corinthians 15 is not a complete list, but credal, meant to be shared.

The 500 witnesses at one appearance were at least 500, most still alive and able to be questioned by the Corinthians.

Information doesn’t go bad because it’s “old”.

I Corinthians is still fresh information, ’50’s AD.

James, Jesus’s brother, saw the resurrection

James now believes and leads the church, taking on persecution.
